The Property Partnership: Couples Counseling for Property Managers and Engineers Brings CRE Teams Together for Candid Collaboration

Houston BOMA’s The Property Partnership: Couples Counseling for Property Managers and Engineers brought property managers and engineers together for an open, honest conversation about building stronger, more effective teams.

The morning began in the conference room lobby of Stream Realty's 1 Houston Center, where attendees visited sponsor tables, enjoyed a complimentary breakfast, and connected with colleagues. Sponsor Cougar USA greeted guests with freebies, shared information about their services, and invited everyone to enter a raffle for a catered team lunch. The Stationary Engineers Apprenticeship School (SEA School) was also on site to share details about their SMT and SMA designation programs.

Outside of the conference room, sponsor Studio Pod provided free professional headshots, giving attendees a valuable tool to elevate their professional profiles. To help attendees make the most of their headshots, Houston BOMA provided step-by-step video instructions in English and Spanish for uploading photos to LinkedIn and the Houston BOMA Member Compass.

Once the seminar began, moderator Paul Meyer, CBRE, guided an engaging discussion with a panel of industry professionals:

  • Mel Barton, Assistant Chief Engineer, CBRE
  • Gloria Stelly, Senior Property Manager, CBRE
  • Gustavo Rodriguez, Chief Engineer, Stream Realty
  • Tiffany Selva, Property Manager, Transwestern
  • Joe Guillen, Director of Engineering, Griffin Partners
  • Courtney Davis, General Manager, Griffin Partners

The conversation explored trust, communication styles, setting and respecting boundaries, bridging the language gap between managers and engineers, and the value of professional designations. A lively Q&A session followed, offering even more insight as panelists shared candid experiences and practical advice.

Property managers and engineers interested in furthering their professional development are encouraged to apply for the Houston BOMA Foundation Scholarship, which covers the cost of eligible industry courses and designations.

Houston BOMA extends its thanks to the panelists, sponsors, and all who attended at 1 Houston Center. Their participation and collaboration continue to strengthen Houston’s CRE community.
