About the Class
Building Engineering Management (BEM) 101 is a new course developed by Houston BOMA’s Engineer Education Committee for building engineer professionals. The course will provide a high-level understanding of property management and building maintenance and teach the vital soft skills that will help building engineers grow professionally and advance their careers. Students will be taught by industry leaders who are experts in the curriculum subject matter.

Building Engineering Management 101 is presented in a virtual environment with live
interactive instruction from our expert members. The 9-hour education program covers the material over three class days with three hours of instruction each day.

Who Should Take this Course?
Any professional who works in the daily maintenance of building operations and who 
demonstrates an interest in increasing their knowledge, skill sets, and leadership ability. This course is perfect for individuals looking to further their capabilities and understanding of effective communications, financial operations of a building, and the important relationships between building personnel with internal and external clients.

Houston BOMA Course Policies

• All fees must be paid at the time of registration by either check or credit card. The member rate will be extended to any individual who manages or operates at a Building that 
is a BOMA member.

• A minimum of six registered students is necessary for the class. The class will be canceled if the minimum of six students is not met.

• Course text books will not be sent to students until payment is received and at least six students have registered for the course. Notification will be sent to students when the course book is available. This class is an accelerated review class and students must review the materials before the start date of the class.

• Houston BOMA requires students to participate in all 3 days of class to officially complete the Building Engineering Management 101 Program. Houston BOMA will provide Certificate of Completion on the last day of class.

• Cancellations must be received in writing via email. All cancellations received within 60 days of the class date are subject to a $350 cancellation fee. If the student has already received the book when a cancellation request is submitted, an additional $200 cancellation fee will be assessed to cover the cost of the book.
