Membership Dues Refund Policy

Last updated: June 27, 2025

Houston Building Owners and Managers Association (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to maintaining transparency in all financial interactions with our members. This Membership Refund Policy outlines how we process and manage refund requests related to annual dues payments.
By submitting payment for membership with Houston BOMA, you (as the member) agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.

Refund Eligibility and Terms

Membership dues may be eligible for a refund if requested within a defined timeframe:

  • Within 30 days of the payment date: A full refund may be issued, less a $50 administrative fee.
  • Between 31 and 90 days of the payment date: A prorated refund may be issued, less a $50 administrative fee, based on the number of full months remaining in the membership year.
  • After 91 days: Membership dues are non-refundable.

These refund windows are inclusive of Houston BOMA’s proration period, which allows for partial-year dues to be calculated and billed based on the number of full months remaining in the calendar year at the time of joining. Prorated dues are considered final and are subject to the same refund guidelines listed above.

Refund Requests
All refund requests must be submitted in writing to nlara@houstonboma.org and include:

  • Member name and organization
  • Invoice number or payment reference
  • Date of payment
  • Reason for the request

Requests will be reviewed within 10 business days of receipt. Supporting documentation may be required.

Exceptions
Requests submitted due to exceptional circumstances (e.g., relocation, medical hardship, organizational merger) will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may be eligible for additional accommodations pending approval by the Houston BOMA Executive Team.

Communication of Policy

This policy is communicated in membership invoices, on our website, and during onboarding and renewal correspondence to ensure transparency and fair expectations for all members.

Membership Cancellation and Non-Renewal Rights
Houston BOMA reserves the right to cancel or decline to renew any membership at its discretion, including for non-compliance with policies, non-payment, or conduct misaligned with the association’s values. Refunds in such cases will be considered on a case-by-case basis in accordance with this policy.
